Inspiration and Co-Creator of the Shadow Buddy
Miles Postlethwait has endured more than most of us could imagine. He was born with midline congenital birth defects and from the time he took his first breathe he has fought for his life. And at 22 years old he has had 40 major operations and has more in his future. Because he has spent so much time in the hospital, Miles fully understands how lonely and scary it can be for a child. His goal was to have these buddies help comfort children when they had no one around. He wanted children to have a buddy that could help ease their pain and insecurity. He also knows how lucky he is because he has never had to experience any of his surgeries or hospital stays alone. His mom, Marty (Shadow Buddies Co-Founder and Executive Director) and family have always been by his side. Today, Miles is an active young man who inspires people daily. His hobbies include golfing, swimming, spending time with family and cheering on his best friend, Atlanta Falcons tight-end Tony Gonzalez and the newest addition to the Shadow Buddies family, Kansas City Chiefs Quarterback Matt Cassel!! He plans on continuing his education and studying business and marketing. It’s his hope to use both his educational background and life experiences to help expand and promote The Shadow Buddies Foundation.
